We attend auctions daily, taking the time to personally inspect each
targeted unit before even considering a bid. We do not buy from our
office on the auction satellite system, the equivalent of attending an
auction blindfolded. Specially ordered vehicles can be found in about
10 days. A deposit from serious buyers moves your request to the front
of the queue.
Attention all internet buyers: Sourcing a vehicle based solely on the
auction grade is incredibly risky. Grading is standardized to a degree
but each inspector sees each car differently. The same car can be an
accident repair spec at one auction and mysteriously transform into a
grade 4 at the next. The classic grading of A/4? No thanks. That said,
not all accident repaired cars are bad, some properly repaired cars are
great deals. Kms noted on the auction sheet should also be scrutinized
against the condition of the car. Does the auction have a pit to view
cars from underneath at the time they are inspected? Only some do, a
purchase from this kind of auction would warrant more attention to
detail when checking underneath the car.
Mistakes cost money, avoid pitfalls like these and have the car checked
carefully before it is purchased. There are thousands of cars available
each day, if need be, just walk away and try again tomorrow.
